Greetings All!
CapCon 2007 has come and gone. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Janyce Roy and the rest of the CapCon committee for pulling off such a well run show. It was great that Les Burnigham, a member of our twin chapter IPMS Farnborough, was able to attend the show as well.
One item of housekeeping from the show. A visitor to the show left a bag of purchases in the vendor room during the awards ceremony. If you are the rightful owner, or know who is, please contact me via the Website's Contact link. Identify what was in the bag, and we can arrange for you and your goods to be reunited.
At our September meeting, some concerns were brought up that I will be completely revamping the Web site without input. This is not the case. I am simply trying to avoid a lengthy discussion during our monthly meeting which does not seem to actually decide anything. I recall my first meeting I attended where the website was discussed, and it caused me to walk away from the club for more than a year. If you have a request to make regarding the Web site, or would like to make a suggestion as to how it can be run effectively and efficiently, please contact me to discuss. I am quite interested in hearing what you have to offer.
Going forward, our October meeting will feature a tools and tips round table discussion. If there is a particular technique or area of the build process you are struggling with, bring it up, and get some tips from your fellow club members.
For November, we will have another round table discussion on what topics you would like to see covered in 2008. This will give your next President a head start on getting presenters for next year. I hope to have a presentation booked for this meeting as well.
Of course, the December meeting is not complete without elections, and the roles of President and Treasurer will need to be filled. Now is a good time to start thinking of possible candidates.
Hope to see you all on October 3rd!
Cheers!
Kevin Smith
President, IPMS Ottawa
