Funny thing happens when you start a new job: You forget to write the “Prez Sez” column! But better late than never I would assume.
Our guest speaker for the March Meeting, Mr. Frank Cauley, was forced to cancel due to an urgent family matter. His son Glenn said that his father still wishes to speak to the club about his experiences as an RAF Navigator during the Second World War at some point in the near future. As soon as a date can be set, I’ll post a notice to the club.
With the cancellation of our speaker, the club decided that they’d like to have an extended break to chew the fat with other members. This was rather well received and many took this time to partake in the introduction of refreshments and snacks at meetings. Soft drinks and donuts were sold to members and if the photo of Terry Jones is any indication, it can be said that they were well received. Or imbibed… or ingested. You get the idea.

Also, as is tradition, members raised ideas for next year’s March Contest. After several topical topics (Hey, you try writing this!) and an Al Capone style voting process (Vote Early! Vote Often!), the Theme “City of Ottawa” was chosen. Rules and a sign up sheet should be available online by the next meeting. The following Sunday saw the annual IPMS Ottawa club auction take place at the Museum. This year’s attendance and goods was down compared to previous years, despite a rigorous attempt at advertising at various online modelling forums. Thanks to the volunteer crew who, trust me on this, make running the auction look so much easier than it actually is. |

IPMS/Champlain Valley hosts CAN/AM Con 7 at the Comfort Inn Banquet and Conference Center, 411 Route 3, Plattsburgh, New York. -
April 28-29
The AMPS Nationals will be held April 28-29 in Hubbard, Ohio.
As IPMS Ottawa Members will be attending most of these shows, hopefully we’ll have a slide show of shows in May.
