April 2007

Greetings All!

Our April meeting was well attended, with one newcomer, and a special visit from John Wong of IPMS Toronto.  John was even so kind to bring in a very impressive 1/72 Wyvern and Zero Type 21.

Paul Bornn gave us a very good presentation on weathering techniques, and brought in some very interesting products that can be used to produce excellent results.  My wallet now hates him however, as it is much lighter as a result.  Thanks Paul.

I was very impressed with the turn out of models on the table, with at least a dozen entries into the adhoc contest.  Let's keep that ball rolling, as it's great to see that many kits on display.

With respect to our May meeting, the esteemed yet often mocked Jamie Leggo will give us a presentation on photographing models, and he will bring in his portable photo setup to aide in the demonstration.  We will also have two contests, yes two contests.

The regularly scheduled and club sponsored contest of Heli Night will continue as planned, so please bring out whatever helicopter model you have.

As announced at the April meeting, in the interest of increasing the model turnout, especially for those non-aircraft builders, I will be sponsoring an additional adhoc contest for May as well.  Please bring out whatever model you would like to display.  Prizes will be awarded in the form of three kits from my personal collection.  One kit will be an aircraft, one will be an armour subject, with another being an automotive subject.  Something to hopefully appeal to everyone!  First prize gets first choice of the kits, and so on.  The only condition for contest is that it must not be a completed model that has been displayed at a meeting before, or entered in a previous contest.  Hopefully, this will inspire a few folks to bring out a never before seen masterpiece.

Happy Easter everyone, and see you on May 2.

Cheers!
