The Hobby Centre, a hobby shop and great friend to IPMS Ottawa celebrated its twentieth year of operation this month. Local area modellers turned out in droves, not only for the good deals, but also for the great food! Montana’s staff was on hand for a charity BBQ at the front of the store and they did brisk business.
While it did rain most of the day which spoiled the possibilities of an outdoor comic book day sale, the precipitation didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the staff. In true form, Hobby Centre owner Bill Chappell had the staff dress as comic characters that day. There was a Jedi Master, Dr. Nick from The Simpsons, Batman, Clark Kent, The Joker and Steven Milstone-Turner as himself. Bill however, stole the show as Jeff Albertson, the Comic book shop owner from The Simpsons.

June Meeting — Lancaster Night!

Film from Glenn McLeod, followed by Guest Speaker, Mr. Frank Cauley, father of IPMS Ottawa Member Glenn Cauley. Frank served as a Lancaster navigator with 4 Group RAF. He also has some experiences in other aircraft, including a Sunderland with 422 Squadron. This was the only Canadian squadron to have a confirmed U-boat sinking. If you have any Lancaster related materials or models, please bring them to the meeting.
Also, June is an Adhoc month for the club. Briefly, this means that you can get those finished, unfinished and somewhat recognizable pieces out of the workshop and bring them in for all your friends to see!
NEW, FINISHED models brought out are eligible for the tri-yearly drawing of gift certificates (awarding merit and determination to actually finish a model!) and be prepared to say a few words about your completed master piece!
