Twinned! update 2013

2013 was a red-letter year in the history of the International Plastic Modeller’s Society. IPMS UK decided to use Scale ModelWorld 2013 to mark the 50th Anniversary of IPMS. Started in London, England by several enthusiasts, in 1963, there are now chapters in over forty countries around the world.

IPMS Canada decided to send members, some of whom area members of IPMS Ottawa, to take part in the celebrations. Steve Sauvé, Mike Belcher, Jamie Leggo and Gary Barling joined National Director Bob Migliardi in Telford, just west of Birmingham, in early November for the festivities.

Friends from our Twinned IPMS Farnborough lent excellent support for the IPMS Canada display table in the Overseas Section. With Canadian subjects a significant part of their modelling, Farnborough members loaned many Canadian themed builds for our display. The result was an excellent cross section of subjects touching aircraft, armour and two huge civilian transport trucks! During the two-day event, many Farnborough members dropped by to meet our members and enjoy the hospitality.

All in all, the event further reinforced the close ties between IPMS Ottawa and IPMS Farnborough. Well Done to Everyone!
