TWINNED Across the Globe — IPMS Ottawa / IPMS Farnborough / ACTSMS Canberra

Welcome to the Twins' page of IPMS Ottawa (Canada), IPMS Farnborough (UK), and ACTSMS Canberra (Australia).

IPMS Ottawa and IPMS Farnborough "twinned" in 2006 by way of a longstanding friendship between Gary Barling of IPMS Ottawa and Les Burningham of IPMS Farnborough.  They discussed the idea and took it up with their respective clubs (both of which said “Yes!”), and the twinning was a done deal. Since then, each club has hosted members of the other, gifts have been exchanged, and members of either club have provided much assistance to members of the other. The same has been the case when the hands of friendship were extended across the ocean in November 2011, and ACTSMS Canberra became the third twin. A Canberra member had worked in the UK for a while and been involved with IPMS Farnborough, had heard of our original twinning, and asked Canberra could join in. Both Ottawa and Farnborough said “Yes!” again, so now you know the story of “The Twinning!”
